Notes and Quotes:
The last time New York travelled to Tampa Bay, Rowdies GK Evan Louro and D Jordan Scarlett were in the starting line-up…for the Baby Bulls
Tampa Bay: Juan Tejada returned from injury last month and earned his first start of the season on Tuesday in Charleston. The Panamanian logged 73 minutes and brought his trademark energy to the lineup, nearly scoring a goal as well.
“The first games I came in, I felt I struggled a little bit. It’s been a long time, but I was happy with how the game Charleston went. We started the game so well and really I think I needed that kind of game to get my confidence back and kind of get my feeling again of being a player. I felt very good against Charleston and hopefully I can build up from there and get a goal soon.” — Forward Juan Tejada
Another player looking to make his return tonight is Dayonn Harris, but the Rowdies will be missing at least one mainstay in Conner Antley, suspended for tonight’s match following his straight red card in Charleston. Max Lachowecki, who subbed off early in Charleston with an injury, is questionable for tonight as well. Tonight could see the in-form Sebastian Dalgaard switching from the left wing to the right in order to fill the spot normally manned by Antley.
The Rowdies currently have the most points and wins of any club in the USL Championship and they also boast the most wins at home. With a 3 week road trip coming up after tonight, Tampa Bay will want to leave supporters with a warm feeling as they exit the stadium tonight.
“We know this place has been a fortress and that’s what we call it. We are definitely looking at a great performance, and we know that 3 points will come if we’re dialed in and we have the mentality that we’ve had over the last few weeks, it’ll be a good outcome for us.” — Assistant Coach Stuart Dobson
On Tuesday night, Tampa Bay set a new club record for consecutive clean sheets with their 6th straight shutout. A victory tonight would be their 5th straight, a modern era Rowdies record. This will be the second time this season the club has a chance to set this record as they started the season with 4 wins in a row.
